A Minimal Beach Maternity Session in the PNW
I captured Lynette’s maternity session in Cannon Beach, Oregon directly on the beach. It was elegant while still giving off a boho feel. We kept her session very minimal, allowing the natural beauty of motherhood to blend with the wonder of nature. The water, the sunshine and the birds set the stage for a peaceful atmosphere. This was such a breathtaking maternity session!
I styled Lynette in a few different pieces from my client closet that I knew would complement the location perfectly. She wore a white, flowy dress that felt natural but elevated. We also styled her in a few bathing suits to showcase her beautiful baby bump by the water.
There’s no need to go over the top when styling your outfits for your maternity session. Shoot for something that works with the location you’re shooting at and not against it. This will keep mama comfortable and feeling confident for her photos! I love providing my clients with pieces from my client closet to remove the stress of finding something new to wear.
Beach Maternity Sessions Are Perfect for Including Little Ones
Lynette has such a graceful and serene spirit. She glows from the inside out! I feel like this maternity session really captured her style of motherhood. It was calm and flowed so naturally. I love that we were able to include her daughter in a few of the beach portraits! It was a blast to capture them playing and interacting.
A beach maternity session is perfect for including your other little ones because it invites them to play and not feel anxious about the camera. This allows them to be themselves and creates some beautiful candid shots.
A Morning Maternity Session
The most surprising thing about Lynette’s maternity session was the time of day it was captured. This was a morning session that started at 10:00 AM. In the photography world, the magic golden hour just before sunset is prized above all other times of day.
However, Lynette’s session is proof that any time of day can produce a beautiful session. The key is a photographer who knows how to work with natural light, styling and location to create a recipe for a session you’ll love!
